FPS to Milliseconds Calculator
Convert FPS to the theoretical frame duration in milliseconds, compare it with display refresh rate, and learn why an FPS counter is not the whole latency story.
How to convert FPS to milliseconds
Frame time = 1000 / FPS, with FPS measured in frames per second. At 60 FPS the mean frame duration is about 16.67 ms, while 120 FPS corresponds to about 8.33 ms. This relationship is mathematical, not a gaming benchmark.
FPS is not the same as refresh rate
FPS describes the game rendering cadence. Refresh rate is how many times a display can refresh per second. A higher frame rate can still influence input responsiveness, even if the monitor cannot show a complete unique new frame on every refresh.
What about 1% lows and stutter?
Average FPS can hide inconsistent frame times. Measuring 1% lows, spikes or time-series frame delivery requires actual instrumented performance data; this page does not claim to measure your hardware.
