What 2FA protects
Two-factor authentication adds another sign-in step so that a stolen password alone is less useful to an attacker. Epic states that 2FA is also required to send gifts in Fortnite and for some competitive events.
Enabling 2FA does not make a weak password safe: use a unique password and protect the email inbox or authenticator used for your account.
Turn 2FA on in account security
Go to Epic Games account settings, open Password & Security, and find Two-Factor Authentication. Choose the available method and follow the current setup instructions.
If multiple factors are supported, keep your backup and recovery options current. Never enter one-time codes into third-party giveaway websites.
What to do if the code is not arriving
Confirm you are trying to access the correct Epic account and the right verification method. Check your email spam folder if email verification is selected; for authenticator apps, review device time and the correct account.
