How it works
Coordinate the party for useful stagger moments.
Practical strategy
Follow the chapters in order, practise each system in a safe encounter, and revisit your Pictos, weapon scaling and AP flow when a step stops working.
Mistakes to avoid
Treating every build or boss sequence as identical across all save files and patches leads to avoidable mistakes.
Break, stagger and burst windows: walkthrough
Why Break matters
Some attacks create Break pressure. When an enemy is vulnerable, a planned party can convert a short opening into a much larger advantage than three disconnected attacks.
Prepare AP first
Check the upcoming timeline and how much AP each fighter can afford. It may be better to use basic attacks before triggering Break so your burst skills are ready.
Align character mechanics
Gustave’s Overcharge, Maelle’s Virtuose and Sciel’s Foretell reward deliberate setup. Decide which payoff fits your current party rather than trying to force all of them into every encounter.
Protect the window
Avoid overcommitting to an attack if a dangerous enemy action immediately follows. Staying alive and acting again often beats an unstable all-or-nothing turn.
Measure several cycles
After a boss attempt, ask whether the Break created actual useful actions. If not, change timing and AP allocation before chasing a larger displayed damage number.
