How it works

Stygius teaches flexible melee, Varatha spacing, Aegis blocking, Coronacht careful timing, Malphon rapid punches and Exagryph reload management. The best beginner weapon is one whose defensive rhythm you can already control.

VOLPEDIA / FIVE-PART GUIDE

All Six Weapons and Aspects Explained

01

Start with weapon identity

Stygius teaches flexible melee, Varatha spacing, Aegis blocking, Coronacht careful timing, Malphon rapid punches and Exagryph reload management. The best beginner weapon is one whose defensive rhythm you can already control. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Learn core actions before upgrades

Test Attack, Special, dash-attack and Cast on Skelly; then take one early combat boon and notice which input you actually use. Boon choice has more impact when it supports the action you press safely and often. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Understand aspect investment

Each weapon has four aspects, including a hidden form. Titan Blood is finite early on, so choose an aspect based on its mechanic: Chiron tracking, Hera Cast shots, Beowulf Cast-loaded shield or Hestia reload shots, not internet tier labels alone. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Match hammers to weapon rhythm

Daedalus Hammer upgrades are not interchangeable. A slower charged-attack modification can be excellent on an accurate bow player but poor when their problem is getting interrupted before the shot. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Test and refine

Practice a build on regular rooms, then revisit whichever boss stopped you. Keep the weapon if it feels consistent; change boons, keepsake or Mirror talents before spending scarce Titan Blood across every possible style. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
