VOLPEDIA / FIVE-PART GUIDE

Cast Builds Explained

01

Know Cast’s role

Cast is a distinct damage and control action. For many setups, stones may lodge in foes and interact with Boiling Blood, while other Cast boons change how stones travel or persist. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Choose a compatible Cast

A Hera Bow loads Casts into arrows, Beowulf Shield delivers them through a charged rush, and Poseidon Sword can help dislodge stones. These mechanics radically change how a run should be played. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Solve stone availability

Do not spend every stone without planning recovery. Some builds are powerful only if you can use Cast repeatedly throughout a boss phase. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Combine the right gods

Ares Blade Rift and Demeter crystal beam routes need different setup than a simple direct-damage Cast. Pursue Duo synergies only when the prerequisites are realistic. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Use safe attack windows

The best Cast setup is useless if you take repeated hits while preparing it. Place casts during boss recovery or from safe spacing, then return to dodging when the attack pattern resumes. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
