Ask where the next piece of cover is
Before leaving safety, identify where you plan to stop. A good position gives you something useful to do and a way to stop doing it when pressure changes. Avoid judging a route only by how quickly it reaches the enemy; look at the distance you would need to travel if your team lost the engagement.
Keep a shared sightline
Being physically close to a support does not always mean they can help you. A wall, a corner or elevation can break the route between you. Before using movement to enter a fight, look back once. If the position requires an ally to expose themselves just to reach you, the move may be more expensive than it appears.
Use an angle with a return path
A second angle can force opponents to divide their attention. It also separates you from protection. Start with a short detour, take a few shots, and return before your movement tool is needed for both entry and escape. Practise the route when the pressure is low.
Review the decision, not only the result
A successful elimination does not prove the route was safe. Pause a replay just before you committed. What could you see? Which cooldowns were available? What would have happened if the first shot missed? Choose one positioning habit to test next time. These suggestions are general editorial analysis; maps and hero abilities can change the trade-off.
