Start with a job, not a tier list
Choose a task you enjoy repeating: opening space for your teammates, creating pressure on opponents, or keeping an ally in the fight. Vanguard, Duelist and Strategist are useful starting categories, but a role label does not explain every hero. Read a character’s kit and try the controls before committing to a match.
Keep the first session small
Pick one character. In practice, test the main attack, movement tool and defensive option separately. Notice what happens when each runs out: ammunition, charges, energy and cooldowns all create moments when your choices become narrower. Aim to recognise those moments rather than memorising every number at once.
Play around one teammate
Choose a nearby ally and observe where they can safely move. As a Vanguard, ask whether your advance can actually be followed. As a Duelist, consider whether an angle still gives you a route back. As a Strategist, keep a route to cover while watching teammates who are about to commit.
Give the experiment a fair chance
After a few fights, identify one recurring problem. If you repeatedly lose sight of allies, change your route before changing your entire character pool. If you have learned the controls but dislike the job, try another role. This is an editorial practice method, not a promise of a particular rank or win rate.
