The Overworld-to-Nether horizontal scale is approximately 8:1. These are mathematical positions, not guaranteed safe portal placements or valid portal pairings; nearby portals and terrain can affect links. Y-coordinate is not included.
How it works, step by step
- Enter the two horizontal Overworld positions you need to connect. The planner shows a straight-line distance and divides the coordinates by eight to suggest locations in the Nether.
- Nether travel is usually shorter in horizontal blocks because one block in the Nether corresponds to approximately eight Overworld blocks. Use safe, navigable routes rather than drawing a straight line through dangerous terrain.
- Portal pairing depends on existing portals, their Y-level and the game’s placement rules. This calculator does not predict exact pairings or safety.
