How it works
Mega Malamar is a special form of Malamar, and only Pokémon with a compatible Mega Evolution can use a matching stone. It changes the way you plan important fights, but Z-A still uses real-time movement and move timing.
How to play
First understand the base Pokémon’s type matchup, attack range and cooldowns; then consider whether the Mega transformation creates an advantage in a specific fight. Compare the opponent rather than deciding from design alone.

The appearance alone does not tell you which in-game moves are strongest.

Battle focus
Mega Evolution can be decisive when it is activated during a favorable opening. Train with the base form first so unfamiliar movement or recovery patterns do not ruin that opening.
