ORIGINAL VOLPEDIA FIELD GUIDE

Skull Cavern Survival: detailed walkthrough

01

Unlock the route

Restore the bus and complete the mine-related prerequisite to access Skull Cavern. The trip has an opportunity cost, so choose a day when you can commit meaningful hours and do not urgently need to tend a full farm.

02

Prepare before leaving

Bring a weapon appropriate for your game progress, healing food, mobility options, bombs, and staircases if available. Avoid wasting inventory slots on low-value materials. Check relevant luck indicators if that fits your strategy.

03

Favor descent over small fights

The cavern has no ordinary elevator progression like the Mines. Finding a staircase or shaft quickly can be better than mining every rock. Use explosive tools carefully and manage your health during serpent attacks.

04

Recognize stop conditions

A nearly empty healing supply or critical health can end a run suddenly. Use your exit options, and understand the late-night penalties before making the next risky descent. Valuable resources are less important than keeping the haul you already found.

05

Use the rewards

Iridium and other deeper resources support stronger tools and machines. Evaluate what your farm actually needs before spending every valuable resource. Tie every run to a specific farm upgrade or crafting target before you enter.
