A practical threat-reading framework for an extraction adventure with machine encounters and unpredictable other players.
Identify the type of danger
ARC machines are a distinct environmental threat; other Raiders can make decisions that differ from simple predictable patrols. Scan routes rather than assuming every sound means the same kind of enemy.
Use terrain and available cover to evaluate whether an encounter is necessary. A fight can attract further attention and make a previously safe route more dangerous.
Decide to evade or engage
Before engaging, consider resources, escape options and whether the encounter advances your objective. When safety is uncertain, repositioning can preserve more opportunities than fighting immediately.
If you do engage, keep your attention on possible additional threats rather than focusing on one target. Nearby activity can alter the situation quickly.
Reassess after an encounter
Check your supplies, your objective and how exposed your position has become. A successful fight can still make extraction harder if it leaves you unable to survive another threat.
Do not assume a single fixed combat tactic works against all machines, players and game versions. Learn behavior through legitimate gameplay and current official notes.
