Keepsakes and Gifts Guide

01

Give Nectar deliberately

The first Nectar gift to most characters earns a Keepsake. Spread some early gifts among characters whose equipment you can use: Cerberus for HP, Skelly for a second chance, or a god for steering offers. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Choose one purpose per region

Start with a Keepsake that establishes your boon plan, then switch to defensive options before a boss if you have the appropriate Contractor unlock. A single all-run Keepsake can also work when its stacking mechanic rewards consistency. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Understand stacking equipment

Pierced Butterfly rewards damage-free rooms and Lambent Plume rewards quick clears. Their accumulated performance is not equivalent to a guaranteed flat bonus on the moment you equip them. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Progress toward Companions

Companions require longer character relationships and favors. Keep speaking to Megaera, Thanatos, Sisyphus, Achilles and the other residents rather than expecting one Ambrosia to unlock everything instantly. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Use equipment to solve problems

If you cannot survive Theseus and Asterius, Evergreen Acorn or Broken Spearpoint may matter more than another god-specific starting Keepsake. The ideal item depends on the section you are trying to clear. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
