Know why upgrading the Nail helps and what to check before chasing the next upgrade.

01 / 03

Understand the mechanic

The Nail is the Knight's close-range weapon and its upgrade path affects damage without changing the need to learn enemy movement. The Nailsmith in the City of Tears offers upgrades in exchange for resources, including Pale Ore at later stages.

02 / 03

Put it into practice

If ordinary enemies take too many hits, a Nail upgrade may be more useful than a new charm combination. Explore safely for upgrade resources, but keep in mind that spells can still be an important damage source even when Nail strength increases.

  1. 01Check whether the next trip is combat-heavy
  2. 02Plan a safe City of Tears visit
  3. 03Compare your damage options
  4. 04Return to practice a difficult fight
03 / 03

Common mistake to avoid

Damage upgrades do not replace movement abilities or boss pattern knowledge. Avoid assuming that a weapon upgrade alone opens a blocked platforming route.
