How it works
This original Volpedia walkthrough breaks the route into five practical stages. Hornet Protector appears earlier in Greenpath; Hornet Sentinel is a later, more demanding battle in Kingdom’s Edge. They share recognizable movement ideas, but the second encounter has faster execution and additional hazards. Do not assume mastering the first automatically solves the second.
Practical strategy
Hornet frequently jumps and changes elevation. Avoid reacting before the path of her leap is clear. If your own position becomes trapped near a wall, use dash or wall movement to reset before attacking again.
Common mistake to avoid
After the relevant encounters, consider which new route or story gate has opened. Mark the next ability-related path rather than attempting to clear every optional boss immediately. The world becomes easier to navigate when progress is divided into manageable objectives.
Hornet Protector and Sentinel Guide
Separate the two encounters
Hornet Protector appears earlier in Greenpath; Hornet Sentinel is a later, more demanding battle in Kingdom’s Edge. They share recognizable movement ideas, but the second encounter has faster execution and additional hazards. Do not assume mastering the first automatically solves the second.
Read the needle and dash
Watch where Hornet faces before a straight lunge, and notice the arc of the thrown needle. Dodge toward a clear zone rather than always retreating. A single Nail strike after a committed movement is often safer than chasing her in midair.
Manage airborne patterns
Hornet frequently jumps and changes elevation. Avoid reacting before the path of her leap is clear. If your own position becomes trapped near a wall, use dash or wall movement to reset before attacking again.
Clear late-fight hazards
In the Sentinel encounter, manage the added spike hazards so the arena does not become crowded. Clearing them costs attention, but ignoring them can remove your safe landing spaces. Keep SOUL ready for an emergency spell or heal when she briefly pauses.
Use the reward to revisit paths
After the relevant encounters, consider which new route or story gate has opened. Mark the next ability-related path rather than attempting to clear every optional boss immediately. The world becomes easier to navigate when progress is divided into manageable objectives.
