How to make a banner in Minecraft

  1. Craft or obtain a plain banner in your preferred base color. Gather dyes for each layer and use a loom.
  2. Choose a pattern and dye in the loom, apply it to the banner, then repeat. Standard gameplay allows up to six pattern layers.
  3. Recreate your Volpedia design from the ordered layer list, or use the exported image as a reference.
  4. On a compatible Java Edition version, you can optionally test the exported /give command in a world with commands enabled.

Banner designer FAQ

Is this an in-game texture editor? No. This is an original vector approximation of front-facing banner patterns, not the game's proprietary textures. The result may differ slightly in Minecraft.
Can I use this on Bedrock?Use the picture and layer list to reproduce the banner with a loom. The copyable /give command targets Java Edition only.
Does the banner design stay private?Yes. Editing happens inside your browser. Nothing is sent to Volpedia; the optional link encodes the design in its URL, which you control when sharing.
