Minecraft beacon pyramid calculator
How many blocks for a full-power beacon? Select one to four tiers, compare the materials and get a layer-by-layer pyramid shopping list.
Build your beacon pyramid
This planner is for a single centered beacon. It counts valid mineral blocks; bring the beacon itself and a payment item separately.
Layer-by-layer shopping list
9 × 9 layer81 blocks
7 × 7 layer49 blocks
5 × 5 layer25 blocks
3 × 3 layer9 blocks
Selected: Iron. Minerals can be mixed within a valid pyramid. The 9:1 calculation assumes crafting mineral blocks from nine suitable ingots or gems. Mixed-block resource breakdown is not calculated.
*Nominal effect range for Java Edition; simulation distance and edition-specific behavior can affect the real area. Include the beacon block itself separately. A clear beam and activation payment are required.
Why does a full beacon need 164 blocks?
- Start with a 9 × 9 square containing 81 mineral blocks.
- Center a 7 × 7 square (49 blocks) above it, then a 5 × 5 square (25 blocks).
- Finish with a 3 × 3 square (9 blocks), then place the beacon in the center above it.
- 81 + 49 + 25 + 9 = 164 blocks, equal to 1,476 suitable ingots or gems if crafted in nine-to-one recipes.
