Plan the silhouette of a gable or hip roof with a layer-by-layer reference. Change your building size, roof overhang and rise rate, then export a material summary and the visual roof plan.
Diagram colors show approximate roof levels. Each cell represents one surface block; this does not model stair orientations, ridge details or interior structure.
Figures cover surface only. Allow extra material for underside, scaffolding, supports, damage and details.
| Level from eaves | Surface blocks | Stacks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 44 | 1 |
| 2 | 44 | 1 |
| 3 | 44 | 1 |
| 4 | 44 | 1 |
| 5 | 44 | 1 |
| 6 | 44 | 1 |
| 7 | 44 | 1 |
| 8 | 44 | 1 |
| 9 | 22 | 1 |
Levels represent the height of the visible top surface, not solid filled layers. Do not add each level as a complete flat floor.
The diagram assigns one colored cell to each visible position of the roof surface. Taller levels are lighter. A gable roof slopes along the building width; a hip roof slopes inward from all four sides. The tool generates a geometric reference, not an exact simulation of Minecraft stair orientation or a structure file.
Choose a slope with one vertical rise per one to three horizontal blocks, then start on the eaves and build toward the ridge. Adjust the final ridge and any corners in-game. The shopping list is an approximate count of visible roof blocks, with no allowance for supports, undersides, slabs, corner stairs or material waste.
Does a hip roof have a ridge? It depends on the footprint: a long rectangle may have several top cells along its long axis; a square often has a small center peak.
Are the quantities exact for stairs? No. They count surface positions. Using stairs, full blocks or slabs will change the real block bill.
Can I keep my roofs? Yes. Save up to fifteen designs in this browser or share the dimensions using a link. Clearing browser storage removes local saves.
