Design crop beds around the watering shape of each sprinkler type and leave space for movement and harvesting.
Understand the coverage shape
The basic Sprinkler waters its four directly adjacent crop tiles each morning. Higher-tier sprinklers reach more tiles in different patterns. Placing a device beside a field is not enough: crops need to occupy the squares its actual coverage includes.
Check the sprinkler type rather than treating all models as interchangeable. A simple sketch of the affected tiles can save an entire morning of rearranging paths and crops.
| Sprinkler type | Normal watered area | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 4 directly adjacent crop tiles | Best for small cross-shaped plots |
| Quality | 8 surrounding crop tiles | Useful for compact square plots |
| Iridium | 24 surrounding crop tiles | Larger square footprint; keep access paths |
Design paths before planting
Make a repeatable crop bed and leave room to walk between plots. Watering coverage does not replace access for planting, harvesting and replacing seasonal crops.
As you improve equipment, rebuild a small area first and watch the next morning’s watering. Then expand the pattern once you have verified it in your own game.
- 01Identify the exact sprinkler tier.
- 02Sketch its covered cells around the center.
- 03Leave access lanes for future harvests and equipment.
Troubleshoot dry crops
A sprinkler waters tilled soil within its coverage; it cannot water arbitrary distant tiles. If crops are dry, inspect whether a path, object or misplaced device caused you to plant outside its pattern.
Avoid treating greenhouse layouts from older guides as automatically correct for your farm’s installed version or any new farm type. The device tooltip and current wiki reference are more reliable than a blurry layout image.
