Overview
Understand bows, guns, ammunition economy and safe damage windows.
How it works
Ranged gear consumes arrows, bullets and other ammunition, while different weapons produce different trajectories and firing patterns.
How to use it
Plan supply quantities before bosses and test ammo behavior rather than following a single best-in-slot list.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not confuse weapon fire rate with practical damage when shots miss.
Ranged Class and Ammunition: detailed guide
Early ranged priorities
A bow or early gun helps you fight the Eye of Cthulhu while staying mobile. Collect ammunition ingredients and use the Arms Dealer for bullets if available. Boss attempts can consume significant ammo even with good aim, so prepare a reserve before summoning.
Midgame weapon choices
The Minishark favors continuous shots; the Phoenix Blaster is deliberate and hits harder per shot. Bows such as Daedalus Stormbow have different spatial requirements and are weaker under a low roof. Choose the weapon that fits the arena geometry and enemy pattern rather than comparing damage numbers alone.
Hardmode economy
Upgrade armor and ranged accessories while balancing material costs. Advanced bullets and arrows can change piercing, debuffs and control. Consider whether an ammo-saving effect helps an expensive sustained-fire weapon more than a small raw damage bonus.
Accuracy under pressure
Before each boss, practice strafing without aiming wildly. Keep spare ammo accessible. Move the cursor ahead of a rushing enemy, and do not fire through walls when projectiles lack penetration. Track which phase produces the most misses and redesign the arena for a clearer firing lane.
