Overview
Prepare the Underworld arena and your world before the irreversible Hardmode transition.
How it works
Wall of Flesh is summoned when a Guide Voodoo Doll enters lava while the Guide is alive; defeating it switches the entire world to Hardmode and spawns tougher enemies and new biome conditions.
How to use it
Prioritize long runway, sustained damage, healing, recall access and protected town routes before starting the fight.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not summon the boss as a test run if you are not comfortable with permanent Hardmode changes.
Wall of Flesh and Hardmode Preparation: detailed guide
Prepare the world first
Secure valid housing, spare rooms, safe storage, pylon routes and an accessory setup that can escape danger. Mark where the world evil lies and protect areas you particularly value. Keep an emergency coin reserve and maintain at least one route to explore without crossing a new dangerous biome. Farm herbs and potions before the transition because travel becomes riskier afterward.
Build the Underworld runway
Clear obstacles and extend a solid or platform path horizontally through the Underworld, far enough for your damage output and movement. Account for lava drops, tall structures and enemies. Campfires and other legal regeneration sources can help, but movement matters more than relying on healing alone. Bring ammunition or sufficient mana restoration for the entire encounter.
Fight the wall deliberately
Drop the doll only when you are ready. Move ahead of the advancing boss; attack its vulnerable parts while keeping a route clear. Its speed increases as the fight goes on, so preserve acceleration tools and avoid stopping for incidental enemies. If you die, use the failure to judge whether the runway or sustained damage was inadequate.
First Hardmode session
Inspect the newly generated Hallow and world evil regions and revisit your towns. New ore tiers and crafting stations unlock major equipment; use the best reachable upgrades before challenging mechanical bosses. Avoid treating Hardmode as simply a stronger weapon drop table: routes, NPC safety and resource management matter even more.
