Clear the space beside an exposed platform before swinging. Plan an exit path for the Spike carrier and avoid taking isolated duels while crossing high-risk edges.
Hold the safe parts of the approach and watch for players using utility around an open ledge. Falling back early can be stronger than contesting a narrow platform alone.
Make mid pressure useful by communicating exactly which defender had to move. On this map a flank that arrives without warning can trap a team against the edge.
Mark safe standing areas in custom practice. After a plant, hold crossfires from stable ground rather than overextending along an exposed boundary.
Trying an unfamiliar jump in a live round while carrying the Spike, or forgetting that open edges change both movement and ability trajectories.
Load Abyss in a custom game. Walk both site approaches, test the main rotation, and practice one coordinated entry and one retake. Repeat after major map geometry changes.
