How it works
Choose which weapons are worth investing materials in.
Practical strategy
Follow the chapters in order, practise each system in a safe encounter, and revisit your Pictos, weapon scaling and AP flow when a step stops working.
Mistakes to avoid
Treating every build or boss sequence as identical across all save files and patches leads to avoidable mistakes.
Weapon upgrades and Chroma Catalysts: walkthrough
Identify the role
Before upgrading, decide whether a weapon serves early survival, status application, a consistent AP loop or a future burst build. An upgrade for a role you never use has limited practical value.
Read scaling letters
Check which attributes the weapon actually scales with. You may need to alter stat allocation when changing equipment; a higher raw attack value does not explain every performance difference.
Inspect passive milestones
Weapon level can affect passive abilities. Always look at the current in-game item description rather than assuming a guide made for another patch has the exact same bonuses.
Budget catalysts
Spend Chroma Catalysts selectively until you know your party preference. Keep reserve materials for a meaningful new weapon rather than upgrading each curiosity immediately.
Test across several fights
Measure whether the changed weapon improves a sustainable rotation. Boss timings, AP and Pictos can matter more than a small increase in the displayed attack.
