How it works
This original five-chapter guide explains awp positioning and decisions through the real objectives, maps and decision-making systems of Counter-Strike 2. It distinguishes stable mechanics from dated Premier or balance information.
Practical strategy
Begin with define your first sightline; then work through use support to reposition. Put the steps into practice one at a time before queueing ranked.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not copy old CS:GO lineups, assume a fixed matchmaking rotation or change five habits at once. Evaluate whether each step actually solves your round problem.
AWP positioning and decisions: step-by-step
Define your first sightline
Choose a lane with a plausible retreat path. The AWP gives an opening-pick opportunity but its economic loss hurts future rounds, so a first angle without cover is risky.
Use support to reposition
Ask for a flash or smoke if your initial shot is missed or counter-utility arrives. Avoid repeatedly peeking the same marked corner.
Consider enemy economy
Opponents on pistols may group close to overwhelm a scoped player. Move to a position that forces them into a controlled approach rather than giving away short corners.
Adapt on retakes
An AWP can hold a long route into a planted site while teammates clear close spaces. Do not attempt an isolated close-range defuse cover where a rifle or utility would be stronger.
Review deaths separately from misses
Distinguish a poor aim attempt from a good shot taken at an angle with no exit. Fix your positioning and first support call before simply changing scope sensitivity.
