How it works
Use construction and logistic robots without overwhelming roboport charging. Each stage in the walkthrough below has a distinct practical objective; complete the current supply or control loop before expanding it.
Practical advice
Construction robots place and remove structures; logistic robots transfer items according to provider and requester behavior. Choose the right network for the goal.
Mistakes to avoid
Never assume an unrelated blueprint or another version of Factorio has identical recipes, technology unlocks or machine ratios. Use the checkpoints in this guide to diagnose your own save.
Robots and logistics networks: complete walkthrough
Separate robot roles
Construction robots place and remove structures; logistic robots transfer items according to provider and requester behavior. Choose the right network for the goal.
Provide coverage
Place powered roboports whose logistic areas connect and whose construction reach includes the target worksite. Robots also need charging and enough network capacity.
Choose chest roles
Use passive providers to expose factory output, requesters to demand materials, and storage appropriately for recovered items. Different chest roles are not interchangeable.
Prevent charging queues
Watch robots wait at busy ports, then add charging in hotspots or shorten their routes. Transporting large ore volumes by belts or rail may be more efficient.
Build safely with ghosts
Blueprint ghosts still require reachable materials and functioning robots. Inspect the missing-material icons before blaming a stalled construction order.
