Volpedia strategy: Expect tougher shields and enemies that can re-form. If the Hydra consumes all Death Defiance charges, adjust offense or healing before the Elysium stretch instead of assuming the next rooms will be easy.

VOLPEDIA / FIVE-PART GUIDE

Asphodel and Bone Hydra Walkthrough

01

Make terrain the first priority

Lava punishes impulsive dashes. Before attacking a distant foe, identify a safe landing position and avoid treating every island as connected by a harmless movement path. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Manage ranged threats

Projectile enemies can make safe ground scarce. Remove high-pressure ranged targets where possible, using safe attack bursts rather than standing inside their zones to trade damage. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Identify the Hydra phase

The main head becomes protected while additional heads appear. Stop attacking the invulnerable center and eliminate the side heads methodically before returning to the main target. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Keep the arena under control

Watch where each head attacks, choose a safe side and avoid crossing lava solely to squeeze out another hit. Damage-over-time or ranged options allow you to continue dealing damage without occupying unsafe tiles. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Enter Elysium with a plan

Expect tougher shields and enemies that can re-form. If the Hydra consumes all Death Defiance charges, adjust offense or healing before the Elysium stretch instead of assuming the next rooms will be easy. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
