01

How it works

Fast Fists often appreciate on-hit status effects; a Bow wants clear charging windows; the Rail values frequent-hit triggers but must reload safely. Each weapon therefore needs different boon priorities.

VOLPEDIA / FIVE-PART GUIDE

Best Beginner Boon Synergies

01

Start from the weapon

Fast Fists often appreciate on-hit status effects; a Bow wants clear charging windows; the Rail values frequent-hit triggers but must reload safely. Each weapon therefore needs different boon priorities. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Support offense with safety

Aphrodite Weak lowers incoming threat; Athena Deflect can soften projectile rooms. These are not substitutes for learning patterns, but they make an otherwise volatile build more consistent. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Use duo goals carefully

Sea Storm connects knockback and lightning; Heart Rend connects Weak and critical hits. These are powerful ideas, not guaranteed drops, and both require a working prerequisite foundation. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Fix missing slots

If your build has several utility boons but no strong main damage slot, choose a core Attack or Special offer first. Once the basics work, side synergies matter more. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Judge synergy by results

A build is good if it clears your current bosses safely. Test whether the bonus triggers often, whether you can maintain curses on targets and whether the approach survives high-pressure rooms. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
