01

How it works

Weak reduces enemy damage, Hangover applies damage over time, Chill controls movement and Doom stores delayed burst. These different behaviors should not be evaluated as if they were the same damage number.

VOLPEDIA / FIVE-PART GUIDE

Damage, Status Curses and Mirror Synergies

01

Understand each curse

Weak reduces enemy damage, Hangover applies damage over time, Chill controls movement and Doom stores delayed burst. These different behaviors should not be evaluated as if they were the same damage number. Practical check: before the next escape, identify the one action or resource that will make this step easier. The best guide is one you can test room by room, rather than a fixed sequence that depends on random rewards.

02

Build a reliable application path

A frequent-hit Malphon Attack can maintain Hangover, while a measured Stygius hit might fit Doom or Weak. Choose the effect that the weapon can apply safely and consistently. In a real run, watch for the exact moment when this plan stops being comfortable: an enemy projectile, an unfavorable chamber reward or a poor health total. That point tells you whether to change positioning or build direction.

03

Activate Privileged Status deliberately

The Mirror talent rewards concurrent different curses. Confirm that both can exist on the same target and that you can reapply them without overcommitting to unsafe positions. Try this deliberately on your next attempt, without also changing weapon and Mirror setup at the same time. Keeping other variables stable makes the result easier to judge and helps you learn what worked.

04

Adapt to bosses

Bosses may resist displacement and behave differently from common enemies. A room-clearing knockback synergy should have a backup damage plan for large single targets. If the encounter becomes risky, first preserve an open path to safety. There is rarely a reason to sacrifice an entire Death Defiance just to complete one more attack animation during a dangerous telegraph.

05

Reevaluate after upgrades

When a hammer or new core boon changes attack cadence, check whether your curse application still works. An efficient build follows the actual moves you use, not only a static list of preferred gods. Before leaving the region, ask whether you gained combat consistency, permanent resources or useful narrative progress. Any of those makes the next run stronger, even when this particular escape does not succeed.
