Understand the Z-A Royale night-time battle zones, Ticket Points, promotion matches and how to prepare a team before nightfall.
Why the Z-A Royale changes the daily routine
The Z-A Royale takes place in special battle zones that appear when night falls in Lumiose City. Trainers compete to rise through ranks that begin at Z and progress toward A, rather than using the same structure as an ordinary wild Pokémon encounter.
The official site recommends using daytime for preparation: capture Pokémon, improve the team and buy useful items. A nighttime match is easier to approach when you have already decided which partners cover the types and situations you expect.
How Challenger’s Tickets work
Promotion matches are not entered merely by winning any single fight. The game requires a Challenger’s Ticket, obtained after earning enough Ticket Points from battling Trainers in the battle zones. Bonus cards offer conditions that can provide extra Ticket Points.
Check the requirements on a bonus card before trying to complete it. A condition that fits your current team is a better target than one that forces risky changes mid-battle. Do not assume the exact point threshold stays identical across every stage.

- 02Look for bonus cards with achievable conditions.
- 03Review your Ticket Point progress before seeking promotion.
Prepare for the next promotion battle
Winning a promotion match is the step that advances your rank. Expect a harder test than a routine encounter and re-evaluate your party if the same matchup repeatedly stops progress.
Keep the story-mode Royale separate from the online Z-A Battle Club ranked system. They both use ranks, but they are different contexts and should not be described as if they share every rule or reward.
