All maps explained: route planning: complete guide

01

Rust Belt fundamentals

Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, The Blue Gate and Stella Montis require different travel rhythms. Outdoor regions expose long lines of sight while dense interiors create door and stair threats.

02

Coast and mountains

Riven Tides adds coastal traversals. Pendola Pass, introduced in October 2026, adds vertical alpine terrain, dynamic encounter pressure and Flash Freeze conditions. A route copied from a calmer map may be unsafe here.

03

Identify objective and exit

Find an exit before selecting the highest-risk loot destination. On maps with tall structures, consider vertical threats and the time required to descend.

04

Use conditions wisely

Night Raids and special events alter visibility and enemy activity. The current condition must be read from the game, not guessed from a cached public timetable.

05

Review after extraction

Make a short note of reliable cover, difficult chokepoints and alternate exits. Revisit when equipment or update changes alter how you approach the same location.
