How it works
This original five-chapter guide explains ancient map control through the real objectives, maps and decision-making systems of Counter-Strike 2. It distinguishes stable mechanics from dated Premier or balance information.
Practical strategy
Begin with separate middle and cave pressure; then work through open with safe information. Put the steps into practice one at a time before queueing ranked.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not copy old CS:GO lineups, assume a fixed matchmaking rotation or change five habits at once. Evaluate whether each step actually solves your round problem.
Ancient map control: step-by-step
Open with safe information
Use a flash or a supporting angle to test contested mid ground. Do not demand a solo player run through a smoke merely to find out whether defenders are present.
Set the final split
If attackers choose A, coordinate the mid/donut route with the other entry rather than arriving at different times. B approaches also need trade spacing in tight lanes.
Delay on CT without overcommitting
Anchors should be able to fall back after early contact. Save retake utility if the round situation permits and communicate whether a main choke was lost.
Adapt to post-plant paths
Defenders retaking a site should check attackers’ off-site angles and know whether a smoke can protect a first defuse tap. Track whether you have a kit before assuming there is enough time.
