Learn how Sites of Grace, runes, stamina and safe exploration fit together before your first difficult boss.
Explore before committing to the hardest encounter
The Lands Between allow you to leave a difficult encounter and return with stronger equipment or more knowledge. Early exploration introduces Sites of Grace, optional areas and opportunities to learn combat.
When an enemy defeats you repeatedly, look for easier routes and practice instead of assuming the encounter is immediately mandatory.
Manage health, focus points and stamina separately
HP measures survival, FP supports skills and magic, and stamina is consumed by many combat actions. Because the gauges recover differently, choosing when to attack, dodge and retreat matters.
Do not spend your entire stamina bar attacking a boss. Leave enough space for an evasive move and allow the gauge to regenerate before committing again.
Use Sites of Grace as an exploration network
Resting at a Site of Grace can refill flasks and restore resources, while many defeated enemies return. Discovered sites also provide fast-travel options when conditions allow.
You can place markers and plan a route rather than trying to clear an entire region in one excursion.
- 01Activate nearby Sites of Grace.
- 02Explore short branches, then return to rest.
- 03Spend accumulated runes before a dangerous attempt when practical.
- 04Mark places to revisit after improving equipment.
Prepare for recovering dropped runes
On death you drop the runes you were carrying. You can retrieve them by returning, but dying again first loses that dropped amount.
Treat large rune amounts as a reason to level or buy essentials before a new boss fight, not as a challenge to carry more into danger.
