Understand why you may have ashes equipped but cannot summon a spirit in a particular area or encounter.
Separate the bell from the ashes
Spirit Ashes are not the same as calling a co-op player. Bandai Namco explains that you need the Spirit Calling Bell and the ash you intend to use. Merely possessing the spirit in inventory does not guarantee that summoning is available everywhere.
Check whether the area permits spirit summoning and whether you have the resources required by the chosen ash. The game’s on-screen indicators are more relevant than someone else’s screenshot from another location.
| Support method | System | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Spirit Ash | Summoning bell and ash item | Area permits spirits and cost can be paid |
| Co-op ally | Multiplayer signs and related items | Multiplayer eligibility and relevant item |
Find the initial equipment route
Bandai Namco describes meeting Renna at the Church of Elleh after obtaining the spectral steed whistle, and a merchant route at Roundtable Hold if the meeting was missed. Follow your save’s available progression instead of assuming the item is permanently lost.
Keep summon and multiplayer guides separate: bringing in another online player uses a different system and cannot be fixed by changing Spirit Ashes.
- 01Confirm the Spirit Calling Bell is owned.
- 02Check you have selected an available Spirit Ash.
- 03Test in an area where the game permits spirit summons.
If the option is unavailable
Do not repeatedly spend consumables or travel to random locations. Check the summoning indicator, current game state, chosen ash and its cost.
Some encounters permit summons and others do not; the availability is part of the game’s encounter design. Treat any guide promising universal summoning in every location with caution.
