01

Overview

Prepare for a tough optional duel where trading hits is costly.

02

How it works

This guide breaks the topic into the concrete decisions that matter in an actual playthrough, separating progression requirements from optional improvements.

03

How to approach it

Follow the stages in order, then use the linked character, region, boss and equipment references when you need more detail.

04

Common mistakes

Do not assume optional steps are mandatory or that all encounters remain unchanged after major story progression.

ORIGINAL VOLPEDIA WALKTHROUGH

Malenia boss guide: lifesteal, Waterfowl Dance and phase two: step by step

01

Understand lifesteal

Malenia restores health on successful attacks even when you block much of the damage. This makes a shield-only defensive plan problematic and rewards clean avoidance more than trades.

02

Waterfowl Dance

Recognize her airborne preparation and have a distance-dependent answer prepared before the move occurs. Near, middle and far ranges require different reactions; practice not panicking as the sequence begins.

03

Phase two

Scarlet rot and a new aerial dive increase positional hazards. After Scarlet Aeonia, evaluate the safe recovery before approaching for damage. Avoid remaining inside persistent danger zones.

04

Adjust the loadout

Bleed and frost can be valuable tools depending on the build, but a strong defense and short, consistent attack windows matter more than a flashy weapon skill.
