Understand why pollution spreads and how mining, energy production and expansion can affect enemy encounters.
Read the pollution layer
Factories can generate pollution through production and energy use. Pollution spreads across the map and interacts with enemy bases, helping explain why attacks may intensify after significant expansion. Use the pollution map layer to see the broader effect beyond the perimeter wall.
Enemy behavior depends on map settings and game mode. Do not assume that every save uses identical attack rules or that a fixed factory size triggers an attack at a specific minute.
Defend important routes first
Prioritize protection for your power source, fuel delivery, smelters and any narrow access corridor. A wall with no working supply behind it can fail because machines or turrets cannot function after an outage.
Keep replacement materials and a reachable way to repair the perimeter. When expanding to a distant resource patch, establish logistics and a return route before leaving the new outpost unattended.
Balance production and preparedness
Efficiency and research can help, but defense is not solved by stopping all production. Inspect enemy approach routes, adjust defensive coverage and keep critical ammunition or power systems supplied.
If you prefer exploration without heavy combat, review enemy-related map-generation settings at world creation. Existing worlds may not respond to those changes in the same way, so make the choice deliberately.
- 01Check the pollution layer after major expansion.
- 02Protect generator and fuel infrastructure.
- 03Retest coverage when extending transport lines.
