Volpedia strategy: Crystal Heart gives a charged super dash that covers large horizontal distances. Charge from solid ground where the exit lane is clear, then anticipate the surface where you will stop. Do not attempt the technique from a tiny unsafe platform without knowing the landing. This is an exploration tool, not just a speed boost.

01

How it works

This original Volpedia walkthrough breaks the route into five practical stages. Mothwing Cloak is an early movement milestone. Reaching it tests learning enemy patterns rather than brute forcing the region. Once obtained, dash across horizontal gaps and use it defensively against predictable charges, but do not assume the ordinary dash passes through enemies.

Practical strategy

Do not attempt the technique from a tiny unsafe platform without knowing the landing. This is an exploration tool, not just a speed boost.

03

Common mistake to avoid

Shade Cloak allows timed passage through many attacks and Shade Gates, while Dream Nail and its Awoken form reveal different parts of Hallownest. They serve different functions: one changes physical movement and defense; the other opens dream interactions and story routes. Revisit old maps methodically instead of treating all new upgrades as interchangeable keys.

01

Dash in Greenpath

Mothwing Cloak is an early movement milestone. Reaching it tests learning enemy patterns rather than brute forcing the region. Once obtained, dash across horizontal gaps and use it defensively against predictable charges, but do not assume the ordinary dash passes through enemies.

02

Climb in Fungal Wastes

Mantis Claw allows wall clinging and wall jumping. In Mantis Village, slow down and practise consecutive wall jumps before testing long vertical shafts. Many areas that felt unreachable with dash alone will now be accessible. Revisit previous regions and mark paths still blocked by other tools.

03

Cross long gaps

Crystal Heart gives a charged super dash that covers large horizontal distances. Charge from solid ground where the exit lane is clear, then anticipate the surface where you will stop. Do not attempt the technique from a tiny unsafe platform without knowing the landing. This is an exploration tool, not just a speed boost.

04

Add vertical and hazardous access

Monarch Wings add a second jump, while Isma’s Tear removes the danger from acid water. Both significantly broaden the map. Use the wings for platforming corrections and the tear for routes previously marked inaccessible by acid. These are separate solutions: a new jump does not automatically grant hazard immunity.

05

Late-game shadow and dreams

Shade Cloak allows timed passage through many attacks and Shade Gates, while Dream Nail and its Awoken form reveal different parts of Hallownest. They serve different functions: one changes physical movement and defense; the other opens dream interactions and story routes. Revisit old maps methodically instead of treating all new upgrades as interchangeable keys.
