Volpedia strategy: Pale Ore is found via exploration, certain bosses and collection rewards. Keep a record of places you have already visited to avoid repeatedly searching the same room. If the next upgrade requires two or three ore, choose a route that advances another goal at the same time.

How it works

This original Volpedia walkthrough breaks the route into five practical stages. The Old Nail becomes Sharpened, Channelled, Coiled and finally Pure Nail through the Nailsmith. The first improvement requires Geo; later ones need Pale Ore in increasing amounts. These upgrades increase damage but do not replace basic attack patterns. Use the improvement to shorten boss fights, not to ignore movement.

03

Common mistake to avoid

Before difficult late bosses, check both offense and defense: Nail level, total masks, SOUL vessels and available Notches. A complete upgrade path is helpful but optional, and completion routes can vary. If progress stalls, a new defensive Charm may be more useful than one more risky attack.

Nail Upgrade Pale Ore Guide

01

Understand the upgrade path

The Old Nail becomes Sharpened, Channelled, Coiled and finally Pure Nail through the Nailsmith. The first improvement requires Geo; later ones need Pale Ore in increasing amounts. These upgrades increase damage but do not replace basic attack patterns. Use the improvement to shorten boss fights, not to ignore movement.

02

Reach the City of Tears

Exploring Fungal Wastes and the City opens access to the Nailsmith. Find a nearby transport route so returning after gathering material does not require a long detour. Keep enough Geo for the upgrade instead of spending everything on collectibles just before arriving.

03

Collect Pale Ore from meaningful milestones

Pale Ore is found via exploration, certain bosses and collection rewards. Keep a record of places you have already visited to avoid repeatedly searching the same room. If the next upgrade requires two or three ore, choose a route that advances another goal at the same time.

04

Practice after upgrading

Higher Nail damage may change the time it takes to stagger or defeat a boss, but it will not automatically make unfamiliar patterns safe. Test your attacks against manageable enemies before returning to a hard encounter. Reconsider whether spell-focused or Nail-focused Charms best fit your play.

05

Finish without skipping survival

Before difficult late bosses, check both offense and defense: Nail level, total masks, SOUL vessels and available Notches. A complete upgrade path is helpful but optional, and completion routes can vary. If progress stalls, a new defensive Charm may be more useful than one more risky attack.
