How it works
This original Volpedia walkthrough breaks the route into five practical stages. Steel Soul differs from normal mode because a run-ending death ends that save. Do not confuse Shade recovery with Steel Soul; your normal rescue habits no longer apply. Finish a standard playthrough and learn crucial boss arenas before attempting it.
Practical strategy
Buy navigation equipment and damage upgrades when they meaningfully reduce risk. Carrying excess Geo offers little advantage if you lose the save. Consider defensive Charms until you are comfortable with each boss pattern.
Common mistake to avoid
Before late bosses, practise the normal-mode versions if possible and plan the exact Charm loadout. Keep track of your SOUL and healing opportunities. Completing the run alive is the objective; speed is secondary.
Steel Soul Mode Survival Plan
Understand permanent death

Plan the route
Choose an order of early upgrades you know how to execute reliably. Mark where Mothwing Cloak, Mantis Claw, Nail upgrades and safe benches fit your plan. A familiar efficient route is better than one that saves a minute while adding a large risk.
Spend Geo and prioritize safety

Respect optional bosses
Do not attempt difficult side encounters only because you reached their arena. Return later with better damage, masks or a safer strategy. Steel Soul rewards conservative decisions and familiarity with every dangerous room.
