Overview
A clear route from arriving in Lumiose City to catching, moving and learning the Z-A Royale.
How it works
Pokémon Legends: Z-A revolves around Lumiose City. Explore in the daytime, capture and train Pokémon in wild zones, then enter nighttime battle zones for the Z-A Royale. The first major difference from classic mainline Pokémon games is real-time movement and attacks.
How to play
Begin by learning how to aim Poké Balls, approach a wild Pokémon without being spotted and change your active Pokémon safely. Build a team with different attack types instead of over-investing in a single starter. Save your strongest resources for difficult encounters.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not assume a traditional turn-taking battle. An attack with the right type still needs to connect, and an opponent can move away while you aim.

Your first checklist
Learn how the game shows Pokémon targets, move availability and enemy attack warnings. Practice on ordinary wild Pokémon before challenging an Alpha or a major trainer. Bring healing items and check your move selection regularly.
Day versus night
Daytime exploration is your preparation period: catch wild Pokémon, collect supplies, and practice positioning. At night, the holographic battle zones open, introducing an entirely different kind of objective.
Build a useful party
A good starter party covers several attacking types and contains both fast, dependable moves and options for punishing bigger openings. Check weaknesses with the existing Volpedia type calculator, while remembering that damage depends on more than type alone.
When you get stuck
If a promotion battle is difficult, return to a familiar area to improve your team and learn the telegraphs of opponents. A better dodge and a well-timed attack often matter more than raw level.
