Overview
Approach quietly, weaken a target and throw with better timing.
How it works
Wild zones appear throughout Lumiose City as part of its redevelopment. You can observe Pokémon moving about, aim a Poké Ball and capture them directly. Some species flee when they notice you; others are aggressive or especially difficult to catch.
How to play
Observe behavior before rushing in. Use cover and approach from behind where possible. If direct capture fails or the Pokémon fights, reduce its HP with controlled attacks rather than accidentally knocking it out.
Mistakes to avoid
Avoid treating every encounter as an automatic fight. Bad timing and unnecessary aggression can waste Poké Balls or make a rare target flee.
Go further: Catching Pokémon in wild zones
Before throwing
Check whether the Pokémon patrols, rests or changes direction. Choose an approach that avoids a direct line of sight. Aim deliberately rather than throwing in rapid succession.
When to battle
Weakening a tough Pokémon can make it easier to catch, but a strong attack risks a knockout. Switch to a less damaging move if the target has little health left.
Build a capture routine
Keep different Poké Balls, healing items and enough free time for several attempts. Return to a zone later if an encounter proves too dangerous for your current team.
