Overview
Design a team around matchups, movement and reliable attacks.
How it works
A six-Pokémon team needs more than six favorites of the same attacking type. Defensive type matchups still matter, but Z-A also rewards spacing, timing and move reach because combat unfolds in real time.
How to play
Start with complementary types. Give multiple Pokémon access to reliable attacks so a difficult encounter does not depend on one Mega Evolution. Carry healing items and learn which party member handles fast or distant opponents best.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not assume a spreadsheet of type effectiveness captures every battle mechanic. Hitboxes, cooldowns, positioning and the current move set remain important.

Coverage audit
For each party member, write down the types of your most-used attacks. Use the Volpedia coverage calculator to identify opponents that resist everything you chose.
Range diversity
Include attacks usable at different distances. Having six close-range specialists creates a predictable weakness against mobile threats.
Review after promotions
If a particular boss defeats you repeatedly, identify whether the problem is a type mismatch, a dangerous attack telegraph or insufficient healing resources.
