Start from in-game evidence
Open the Social tab and track gifts you have already tried. Dialogue, known reactions and story moments can reveal tastes, while birthday dates can be checked on the town calendar rather than memorizing a copied spreadsheet.
Keep organized supplies
Reserve a chest for safe, verified gift choices and label it separately from crops needed for Community Center bundles. This reduces the chance of using a critical quest ingredient as an accidental birthday present.
Route by location
When visiting the Saloon, clinic, beach or mountain homes, look for other residents nearby. Some relationships progress naturally through repeated town errands; others require deliberate trips.
Check event conditions
Reaching enough hearts does not guarantee an immediate cutscene; some require a time, location or weather. If an event does not appear, revisit the location when conditions match. Try another day or time after checking the location.
Balance social goals
Characters have separate personalities and storylines, and a romance path is optional. Perfection friendship requirements are another goal for later; you can enjoy the town without completing every heart route in year one.
