Overview
Build reliable watering layouts from simple grid rules.
How it works
Build reliable watering layouts from simple grid rules. Plan around season length, tool capacity and the objectives that matter to your save.
Practical advice
Start with Quality Sprinklers then improve when resources support it.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not apply sprinkler coverage to Beach Farm sand.
Sprinklers and Efficient Farm Design: detailed walkthrough
Know the shapes
Basic Sprinklers water four directly adjacent tiles. Quality Sprinklers cover the eight surrounding squares and Iridium Sprinklers cover the 24 tiles around a central position in a five-by-five square. Count the occupied device tile as not planted.
Build paths and access
Trellis crops can block movement. Place walkways and harvesting lanes so you never trap a plant behind another row. Consider barns, processing machines and tree growth before dedicating every available tile to crops.
Choose the right upgrade cadence
Early quality sprinklers can save daily energy without requiring endgame ore. Iridium bars are valuable for other upgrades as well; do not postpone all efficiency improvements waiting for perfect coverage.
Check the farm layout
Beach Farm has broad sandy areas where standard sprinklers do not work; raised or special planting spaces have different constraints. Four Corners and Hill-top Farms can restrict giant rectangles with cliffs and water.
Use tools to test profit
Compare 21 crops in the preserved Crop Profit Planner and understand that sprinkler coverage changes labor, not the base sale price. When planning the season, include purchase costs, growth time and your own processing capacity.
