Understand how Radio messages provide leads while letting you explore at your own pace.

01 / 03

Understand the mechanic

The Radio in the original Subnautica supplies messages that can help orient exploration and the main progression path. Leads may direct you toward new environments or story information, but you still need adequate preparation before travelling far.

02 / 03

Put it into practice

When a new signal appears, compare the distance and depth to your current equipment. Use the visit to collect resources and scan safely, rather than treating every signal as a timed command to rush immediately.

  1. 01Listen for the message
  2. 02Check destination depth
  3. 03Prepare water and equipment
  4. 04Explore with a return plan
03 / 03

Common mistake to avoid

A message is a clue, not permission to ignore oxygen, food or vehicle depth limits. Review your available resources before following the next distant marker.
