Understand what the Scanner does and why searching for fragments advances crafting.

01 / 03

Understand the mechanic

The Scanner is a foundational exploration tool. Scanning discoverable fragments contributes toward technology blueprints, which eventually unlock new crafting possibilities. Researching a fragment is different from collecting the raw resource you need to build the resulting item.

02 / 03

Put it into practice

Explore wrecks and areas with visible fragments methodically instead of scanning only wildlife. After unlocking a blueprint, open the crafting interface and identify the ingredients before heading out for another dive.

  1. 01Carry the Scanner
  2. 02Inspect useful fragments
  3. 03Check unlocked blueprints
  4. 04Plan the next materials trip
03 / 03

Common mistake to avoid

Seeing a fragment does not mean you have a completed blueprint. Several scans may be required, and collecting material for a device does not bypass the blueprint requirement.
