Understand why a character may still have movement but cannot perform another main attack.
Understand the mechanic
BG3 turns distinguish movement, actions and bonus actions, with reactions triggered outside normal choices. The action cost printed on an ability determines whether it fits alongside other moves in the same turn.
Put it into practice
Before moving into danger, decide which action you need most: attack, cast, dash, disengage or use a helpful feature. Bonus-action options can add value, but they vary by class, equipment and abilities. A clear order avoids wasting a turn.
- 01Read the action icon
- 02Plan your main action first
- 03Add a compatible bonus action
- 04Save a reaction for a meaningful trigger
Common mistake to avoid
A bonus action is not a second ordinary action. Do not assume every spell, shove or item can be used in the same slot.
