How it works
Five-part, original Volpedia guide to honour mode survival guide, explaining the actual Baldur’s Gate 3 mechanics, common decision points and ways to avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Practical strategy
Follow the chapters in order, then open the related entries when a game rule or location is unfamiliar.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not confuse a suggested route with the only valid story outcome. Check quest warnings before irreversible decisions.
Honour Mode Survival Guide: walkthrough
Understand single-save consequences
Honour Mode changes how mistakes are handled; plan around one campaign rather than assuming you can reload a lost battle. Before starting, understand what ending a run means and how the game handles its persistent save. Practice unfamiliar major fights first on another difficulty.
Scout before boss engagements
Prior to dangerous encounters, use scouting, dialogue and terrain to identify enemies rather than opening combat in the worst possible position. Preserve a ranged attack and an escape tool. Choose safe routes into and out of arenas, and keep companions close enough to help a downed ally.
Account for Legendary Actions
Some Honour Mode bosses have Legendary Actions that change encounter rhythm. Do not use a Balanced Mode strategy as a substitute for inspecting the current Honour Mode mechanics. Examine enemies each round and adapt to incoming hazards, target priority and action economy.
Prepare escape and recovery
Carry appropriate healing, mobility scrolls and defensive reactions. Assign the character best able to escape a failed encounter instead of risking everyone for an optional pickup. A failed negotiation or optional loot choice should not unnecessarily end a long campaign.
Finish the campaign without risky shortcuts
Before the final chapters, resolve companions and build a stock of potions, scrolls and reliable equipment. Test your planned action sequences on safer encounters. The safest Honour Mode run values predictable consistency over a perfect theoretical damage burst.
