How it works
This original five-chapter guide explains counter-strafing and movement fundamentals through the real objectives, maps and decision-making systems of Counter-Strike 2. It distinguishes stable mechanics from dated Premier or balance information.
Practical strategy
Begin with understand movement error; then work through train a single lateral movement. Put the steps into practice one at a time before queueing ranked.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not copy old CS:GO lineups, assume a fixed matchmaking rotation or change five habits at once. Evaluate whether each step actually solves your round problem.
Counter-strafing and movement fundamentals: step-by-step
Understand movement error
CS2 gun accuracy is affected by velocity; a rifle shot while running is not equivalent to one while settled. Training a brief stop before firing makes crosshair placement more useful.
Train a single lateral movement
Move sideways toward a practice angle, stop with an appropriate directional input and fire one controlled shot. Repeat slowly until the sequence is predictable before increasing tempo.
Recognize common peek types
Shoulder peeks bait a response, jiggles gather limited information and wide swings change when an angle holder sees you. Choose based on cover and whether a teammate can trade, rather than repeatedly using one flashy movement.
Trade without body-blocking
Keep enough separation to avoid both players being hit by the same spray or grenade while remaining near enough to punish the first defender. Coordinate who has the initial peek and who clears the next angle.
