Understand why an alternate recipe is a trade-off rather than an automatic upgrade.

01 / 03

Understand the mechanic

Hard Drives can be researched in the MAM to reveal alternate recipes. These provide different ingredient combinations or production methods, which can be excellent for one factory and inconvenient for another depending on resource access.

02 / 03

Put it into practice

Compare an alternate recipe by inputs, outputs, power demands and available nearby nodes. A recipe that saves one scarce item may require more of another. Keep the wider production chain in mind before rebuilding a working line.

  1. 01Read the new input recipe
  2. 02Compare with current materials
  3. 03Check unlocked prerequisites
  4. 04Rebuild only when the benefit is clear
03 / 03

Common mistake to avoid

Do not choose an alternate recipe solely because its name sounds stronger. Its usefulness is situational and not every recipe is available before prerequisites are met.
