What is Ironclad Exhaust and Strength Builds?
A practical original guide to ironclad exhaust and strength builds, organized around actual Slay the Spire 1 decisions and the threats those decisions must solve.
This reference covers gameplay decisions in the original Slay the Spire. Character-specific options and relic synergy can change how useful an item is, so consider your current deck, health, upcoming enemy and available resources before applying a strategy.
When and how to use it
Start with the first section of this walkthrough, apply its sequence in a real run, then adapt the recommendation to the cards, relics and map you actually received.
What to avoid
Do not treat this as a predetermined perfect deck or guaranteed seed; enemy intents, card rewards, potion availability and path options change every run.
Step-by-step guide
Check whether Strength is already available
Inflame and Demon Form represent different speeds of scaling; Limit Break amplifies Strength that already exists. Multi-hit attacks gain extra value. Do not assume every high-cost Strength card belongs in every deck.
Use Exhaust as an engine
True Grit and Burning Pact can remove weak or status cards while triggering defensive or draw payoffs. Corruption lets you play Skills cheaply but limits how many remain later in combat. The plan needs a finishing turn before resources run out.
Choose elite paths with actual damage
Act I elites reward attack tempo. A slow Corruption plan without draw may not be ready by Gremlin Nob, and a deck that only deals burst can fail later bosses. Relics like Dead Branch can radically change the Exhaust plan but cannot be guaranteed.
