What is Boss Strategy Compendium?
A practical original guide to boss strategy compendium, organized around actual Slay the Spire 1 decisions and the threats those decisions must solve.
This reference covers gameplay decisions in the original Slay the Spire. Character-specific options and relic synergy can change how useful an item is, so consider your current deck, health, upcoming enemy and available resources before applying a strategy.
When and how to use it
Start with the first section of this walkthrough, apply its sequence in a real run, then adapt the recommendation to the cards, relics and map you actually received.
What to avoid
Do not treat this as a predetermined perfect deck or guaranteed seed; enemy intents, card rewards, potion availability and path options change every run.
Step-by-step guide
Act I: pressure and phase timing
Guardian uses stance shifts, Slime Boss splits at a damage threshold, and Hexaghost pressures with patterns and repeated hits. Prepare immediate attack and enough Block to survive setup. Each requires different timing rather than one generic boss combo.
Act II: tempo and sustained defense
The Collector adds summoned threats, Bronze Automaton adds disruption and a massive beam, and The Champ has a dangerous transition. Identify which turn must be blocked and when scaling has to be established. Multi-enemy damage can change Collector dramatically.
Act III: enforce a mature win condition
Time Eater limits many-card turns, Awakened One punishes careless Power usage, and Donu/Deca reward decisive target priority. Enter Act III with a plan that respects the visible boss rather than hoping the deck will automatically overpower it.
Act IV: survive the entry
The elite pair Spire Shield and Spire Spear precedes the Corrupt Heart. Take all three keys during the run, preserve enough HP and potions for both fights, and account for debuffs and huge bursts. A deck that only scales slowly can fail before the Heart starts.
Choose a boss answer over a prettier card
Think in combat questions: can you survive the largest single attack, a multi-hit turn, several enemies, a card-play limit, and a long scaling fight? Pick cards, relics or potions to answer the actual upcoming boss. This makes routing and card rewards purposeful.
